Why Your Speed Changes After the Fair Usage Limit
Every Pamoja monthly plan comes with a generous data allowance. Once a connection passes it within the month, the speed is reduced until the next billing cycle. You stay online and there is no extra charge. This is the Fair Usage Policy, and it exists so that a handful of very heavy users cannot slow the network for everyone else on the same fibre. The allowances are large: - Sungura, Chui and SimbaMarara: 15 TB a month, then 5 to 10 Mbps. - Simba, Swara and Duma: 7 TB a month, then 12 to 20 Mbps. To put that in context, streaming a film in HD uses roughly 3 GB an hour. A household would need to stream for well over 2,000 hours in a month to reach 7 TB. Most homes never come close. What usually causes a sudden slowdown instead: - Background downloads such as game updates and cloud backups running on several devices. - A WiFi problem rather than a fibre problem. Test with a cable, or stand next to the router, and compare. - Too many devices sharing a small plan. Our plan finder on the packages page suggests a speed based on your household. How to check where you stand: Log in to the client portal at pamojafiber.phpradius.com. Your dashboard shows data used this month and your current speed tier. If you believe your speed has dropped for another reason, call 020 765 3000 at any time and we will test the line. The full policy table is on our Fair Usage Policy page.
