Choosing Your Internet Plan – What Do You Need?

Looking for cheap WiFi, fibre or home internet in Kenya? Compare what it costs to get connected and keep using the service, not just the smallest advertised payment. This guide explains Pamoja's options and the questions to ask any provider. It is not a claim that Pamoja is the cheapest provider in every location.

Start with coverage at your address

An affordable package is useful only if the provider can connect your premises. Pamoja's published neighbourhood lists cover Ongata Rongai, Nanyuki, Ngong, Kiserian, Tuala (Twala) and Kikuyu. Check Likii under Nanyuki and Gataka Town under Ongata Rongai, then send your exact building or plot for confirmation. A nearby town name alone does not confirm your building.

Compare the subscription and setup costs

Pamoja's lowest monthly home plan is Sungura: 10 Mbps at KSh 1,499. Home fibre installation is free, but this plan requires your own compatible router. Ask support to confirm your router before buying equipment. Chui provides 20 Mbps at KSh 1,999 per month. Compare the full current package details and installation requirements before choosing.

Ask any provider what you pay at the start, what you pay on renewal, whether equipment is included, and whether the advertised price is temporary. If you need to purchase a router, include that cost in your budget rather than treating the subscription as the entire setup cost.

Choose speed for simultaneous use

Count what your household does at the same time. A light-use home browsing, messaging and watching a stream has different needs from several people on video calls and downloads together. A 10 Mbps plan can be a starting point for lighter use; a higher speed provides more shared capacity. No device count guarantees performance for every activity, and weak WiFi inside a room is not always solved by buying a faster plan.

Understand daily and weekly offers

Already-installed Pamoja customers can ask for a 10 Mbps offer at KSh 100 for 24 hours or KSh 390 for 7 days. These offers are only for an existing installed connection, do not include new installation and do not apply to other speeds. Confirm availability with support before paying.

A smaller upfront payment covers fewer days. For continuous use, compare the total cost across the period you need rather than assuming a daily or weekly offer is cheaper than a monthly plan.

Check fair usage, installation and support

Read the Fair Usage Policy before ordering. Pamoja monthly plans have data allowances and reduced speeds after the relevant allowance is reached; do not assume unlimited full-speed usage. Installation is normally within 48 hours after an application and address coverage check, and customer support is available 24/7 by phone and WhatsApp.

Pamoja installs fibre cables to premises, not a wireless last-mile connection. Your router shares that connection over WiFi inside the home. Tell the team your address, budget, router model and typical usage so you can compare suitable options.
